Constraints on the structure of the oceanic crust of the Tamu Massif by teleseismic P-wave coda autocorrelation

The Tamu Massif, considered the biggest single volcano on Earth, was formed by accumulation of enormous amounts magma erupting to surface. It is largest and oldest seamount in Shatsky Rise, which third oceanic plateau Earth. However, formation mechanism Massif still controversial because evidence point different hypotheses. In this paper, we applied P-wave coda autocorrelation method used hydrophone waveform data acquired ocean bottom seismometer (OBS) deployed constrain crust, these results provide new finding structure crust for Massif. We hope it can some implications research These show that stations received reflection signals from shallower depths are nearly parallel seafloor. infer shallow there a layer composed alternating eruptions dense, higher velocity massive lava sparse, lower pillow flows, have less density compared with strong acoustic impedance contrasts between them thus able generate signal, observed our results.
